“But isn’t it a bit dull at times?” the Mole ventured to ask.

“Just you and the river, and no one to talk with?” Kenneth Grahame

Oh Mole, my sweet Mole, one can never be lonely on a river. There are just so many wonderful creatures with whom to share my time.

There are bluebirds to cherish …

… and males cardinals to marvel at …

… and ducks to count.

And there’s always the snowfall that coats the river in a blanket of pristine white.

And when the sun reflects off the branches and they glisten gold, it can just take a person’s breath away.

We’ll count baby ducks …

eating happy family

… and a heron or two …

… and watch for tender shoots to sprout from the fertile earth.

The river is my world and I would have no other.

Come and join me dear Mole and you’ll see just how grand it can be.

Blessed be :}

Hello again. Love the pictures. Miss my grandparents “cottage” right next to your house! Often wish we had not sold after they passed. Would love to stop by and see your little bit of heaven this spring! So many wonderful memories there. Enjoy!

You are most welcome to come, sit, have a cup of tea or coffee or some lemonade, and enjoy my beautiful piece of paradise. Anytime! Blessed be.

Thank you! I will definitely do that. I have some old pictures of the neighborhood I would bring with me. I had some old newspaper clippings showing my uncle in a row boat in front of the cottage as the river was swollen up to our stairs. Probably from the 1940’s. See you in the spring! I will send you a note beforehand. Thank you again. Deb

  4. Hi ConcordRiverLady,
We met a few weeks ago, at the most beautiful sunset after the snowstorm. I was out for a walk, camera in hand. Thank you kindly for introducing yourself, chatting with me and allowing me to photograph the sunset/snowy trees and lovely reflections behind your house…I posted some on facebook. Haven’t been out walking again to say hello, but hope to be soon with the arrival of warmer weather. Maybe we will meet again!

thanks for the glimpse of home. hope spring goes well. It’s not really a flood until you have to kayak home! I put up my hummingbird feeder, its spring in North Florida. The birds are singing love songs , the red maples are blazing in the hedgerows, and the frogs are trilling like a tiny army .
