Phew, I’m finally back. Man, it’s been a perilous journey, filled with hacked emails, stolen passwords, a virus encrusted computer, and, sigh, a swimming phone.
Here’s how it all started: One day as I was happily working on my newest book I received an email from Amazon indicating my request to change my password was complete. WTF! I didn’t request a new password.
Upon further inspection, I discovered my passwords for my bank account, Comcast account, author Amazon account, and credit card were also changed. Double WTF!! And, I received a message from my credit card company that my personal information had been discovered on, cue scary music, da-da-daaaaaa, the Dark Web.
Being the composed person that I am (Not!) I swore bloody hell and ate a container of ice cream. Then I contacted my credit card company and a lovely young man walked me through what I needed to do to save my identity before someone named Fritz went dancing in the new shoes he’d charged to my credit card account.
I changed the passwords to ones of my choosing and went along my merry way. Next day I received approval for several new credit card applications. And, and, and, I was accepted into DeVry University, Where Education is Your Friend. Yeah, I made up the slogan, but, hey, I actually think it works. Being the savvy person I am, I instantly realized I didn’t apply for any credit cards or to DeVry. I checked my Amazon account, et. al, and found my new passwords changed again. Triple WTF!!!
I eventually got everything fixed and then………..my computer crashed! And, and, and, to add more insult to injury, I dropped my cell phone in the river! Oh, and, and, and, and, and, I dropped the memory card for my camera in the river. (Don’t ask my how; I will not tell you–it’s too embarrassing.)
Needless to say, I wasn’t having a good time, and, yes, since the camera card is MIA, the photos for August are, ain’t no lie; bye, bye, bye.
Now that I’m back on track (I think), I’m left to ask: Is the end near? If so, can it hold off until I get a new memory card for my camera? (I told you not to ask.) I don’t want to miss any great shots of the four horsemen galloping across the river.
Blessed be :{
Wow!!! That tops my troubles lately:
2 separate orders of Dominos to Brooklyn NY – one the dominos store credited for me when I got the email confirmation with the tracker! The other he said I would need to call my CC company which I did and got a new CC
Then, someone hacked my jetblue account and used my points to book a flight JFK to LA. Changed my password to do so. Got a new JB CC and got my points back.
Then, my other mastercard was used to buy iTunes for $5.00. They alerted me asking if this was my unusual activity then got pissy when I said no, it wasn’t me and had to get me a new CC.
You have to watch everything carefully!!!
Most of my belongings are NOT in the river though !! LOL you make me laugh.
Oh my, you’re troubles top mine. You get the prize: A glass of wine. Enjoy!
